The Ole Miss Family Association is delighted to send out our March 2019 edition of the Family Press! We cannot believe it is already March on our campus, but spring is definitely upon us. In this edition of our newsletter, we touch on topics such as spring break tips, how to plan for financial aid throughout college and the university’s annual Big Event community service project 

Tips for a Safe Spring Break 

Spring semester presents many exciting social opportunities for students at the University of Mississippi. Included in these opportunities is the infamous spring break, and students may have unrealistic expectations regarding this time off from their studies. At the Center for Wellness Education, we want to provide you and your student some tips for ensuring a safe and fun-filled vacation. 

Managing Financial Aid for the Next Four Years 

Just as your student has to register for classes each semester, he or she is also responsible for reapplying for financial aid each year. Here are some answers to commonly asked questions about financial aid. 

‘Big Event’ Community Service Project Scheduled for March 23 

The University of Mississippi is always trying to think big, and the Big Event is no exception. During the annual event, which is scheduled for Saturday, March 23 this year, students go out into the local community to help with painting, yardwork, cleaning, repairs, as well as assist the elderly, city and county schools, and local churches. 

Student Union Renovation and Expansion Project Near Completion 

The renovation and expansion of the Ole Miss Student Unionat the University of Mississippi is nearly complete, with plans projecting the “true living room to campus” to be finished by the end of the spring semester. 

‘Evicted’ Selected for 2019 Common Reading Experience 

The critically acclaimed New York Times best-seller “Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City” has been selected for the University of Mississippi‘s Common Reading Experience for 2019. 

Accountancy School Team Donates Winnings to Hurricane Relief 

Ben Bradford, a University of Mississippi student from Panama City, Florida, watched from Oxford last fall as Hurricane Michael wrought devastation on his hometown.
