Message from the Director
Spring is finally here!
The Ole Miss Family Association is delighted to send out our March 2019 edition of the Family Press! We cannot believe it is already March on our campus, but spring is definitely upon us. In this edition of our newsletter, we touch on topics such as spring break tips, how to plan for financial aid throughout college and the university’s annual Big Event community service project.
We are sure your students are hard at work studying for midterms and growing excited over spring break planning, but we also encourage them to prioritize their tasks and get plenty of sleep over these next few weeks. It has been common for students to come down with the flu or have flu-like symptoms, and we encourage them to receive flu shots or to visit our Health Center here on campus. Students do not have to make an appointment, but we encourage them to schedule one by calling 662-915-7274. They can find more information at healthcenter.olemiss.edu.
Some students may be thinking ahead to their next semester of classes. It is important that students are making appointments early in the semester to speak with their academic advisers to prepare for class registration.
Summer classes will be quicker and look different from typical fall and spring classes, which is why students should also speak with financial aid staff to make sure their class costs are covered and they are on track to graduate.
If students do not know how to get in contact with their academic advisers, they should turn to the Center for Student Success and First-Year Experience. This office can be reached by email (email@example.com) or phone (662-915-5970).
We all want to make sure your students are on track and focused on the main reason they are here at the University of Mississippi. Remember: We want your students to succeed. They will not learn to navigate life if you do it for them. Give your students the information, and have them make appointments and phone calls.
With lots of exciting events happening on campus, preparation for midterms and planning for what is next, we are here if students need us. Your students and you are our top priority, and we encourage and hope you will contact us with anything you or your students may need. You can always reach us at firstname.lastname@example.org or 662-915-5051.
