Meet the Ole Miss Family Association Staff

Merrill Magruder

OMFA Director

As assistant to the vice chancellor for student affairs and director of the Ole Miss Family Association, I serve in a variety of roles. My primary responsibilities include planning and coordinating family programs and events through the OMFA, assisting with professional development and recognition initiatives for the division, and coordinating the annual graduate assistantship interview process. And of course, serving students!

The University of Mississippi has been my home since I was a freshman (a very long time ago!).  I completed my bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, followed by my master’s in higher education and student personnel, both from Ole Miss.

My main focus is working with students and families to make sure they have a smooth transition to Ole Miss. I encourage you to reach out with any questions so that I can help you and your student have an amazing experience at UM. If you ever have any questions regarding our association, don’t hesitate to call or email me.

My husband, Josh, is an assistant professor for the Department of Leadership and Counselor Education. We welcomed the smallest Rebel to our family in 2014, our precious daughter. We love to participate in all of the activities that Ole Miss and Oxford have to offer.

Caroline “CC” Chace

OMFA and School of Education Graduate Assistant

Hello Ole Miss families! My name is CC, and I am the new graduate assistant for the Family Association. I received my bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, and I am working on my master’s here at the University of Mississippi. A few fun facts about me: I love corgis, people, Pilates and cooking! I am so excited for the next two years, getting to know all of you and helping your family with this next transition in your student’s life. If you need anything or have any questions, please feel free to email me at cechace@go.olemiss.edu or call me at the Family Association office. Hotty Toddy!

Garrett Fischer

Job Location & Development Graduate Assistant, Career Center

OMFA Practicum Student

Hotty Toddy! My name is Garrett Fischer, and I am in my second year at the University of Mississippi obtaining a Master of Arts degree in higher education/student personnel. Prior to coming here, I received my Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice at Georgia Southern University. During my time at Georgia Southern, I was given the opportunity to work for the university as an orientation leader, which created a love for student affairs work. By accepting an assistantship in the Career Center, I am able to help students be successful regardless of their classification on campus and can continue to provide help as those students go on to become alumni. Outside of work, I enjoy getting outdoors as much as possible. Hunting, fishing and playing golf make up most of my free time.
