Message from the Director
Autumn is definitely around the corner in Oxford! Fall Family Weekend is just days away, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome our Rebel families to Oxford. For those who have already registered, a detailed schedule is on its way to you this week! Read more in this issue about how to plan a successful visit to see your student, whether it be Fall Family Weekend or a quick trip to comfort a case of the homesick blues.
In this issue, we feature ways to talk to your student about important topics. Hal Sullivan from the Office of Leadership & Advocacy provides information on how your student can get involved in extracurricular activities, leadership opportunities and volunteer work. Bud Edwards, director of the University Counseling Center, assists families that may be coping with a student struggling with homesickness. Frequently asked questions about student meal plans are covered, as well.
Do you have a question or would you like to learn more about a particular student service or program on campus? Let the OMFA know, and we will feature an article on it. We would also love to hear your feedback on things you wish you knew before moving your student to college. Email firstname.lastname@example.org with any suggestions you may have.
As always, the OMFA is here to make sure you have the resources you need to assist your student with the transition to college. Never hesitate to call our office if you have additional questions or need guidance on a certain subject. We look forward to hearing from you!
